Additional Information about the Nicorette Inhaler

When using the nicorette inhaler the nicotine vaporizes, and absorbs through the mucus membranes lining the mouth, giving you that familiar menthol taste that has been added to the nicotine cartridge. You get less nicotine then you would receive in a cigarette, by approximately one-third. The inhaler does not contain the other toxins that harm to your body. The nicorette inhaler nicotine cartridge only contains about 10 milligrams of nicotine.

As with everything, there are side effects but they are very rare, however side effects do for some people occur early in the treatment. The most common side effects are a slight cough, and irritation of the mouth and throat. The symptoms should diminsh over the first three weeks of use. Some of the other possible side effects include nausea, dizziness, vomiting, ulcers of the mouth, upset stomach, hiccups, and headaches. While these are some of the side effect there are not many cases known to be serious, if you have side effects that persist, or you have concerns about them, you should consult you doctor or pharmacist.

The nicorette inhaler is intended to be used at least three months in order to give you the best chance to quit smoking. If you decide to quit using the inhaler before 12 weeks, you may find your body still craving nicotine, you may experience the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal, and you may start smoking again. The inhaler should used whenever you get the urge to smoke. One nicotine cartridge should be replaced after approximately 20 twenty minutes of use, either with deep inhalation or shallow puffing. The use of the nicorette inhaler while smoking is not recommended, but you can use the inhaler to reduce the amount that you smoke, using the inhaler between smoking episodes.
